  • MediaCity Visit

Preparing our pupil's for a digital world, Media Magic at MediaCityUK.

Our new TAG Team got a taste of media magic when they visited MediaCityUK in Salford today.

Ten Year 8 and 9 pupils enjoyed a tour of BBC and ITV studios and saw how programmes such as Match of the Day are put together.

This was the start of a unique, pioneering 12 week MediaHub programme delivered by digital agency MaD (Media and Digital). Students will be learning exciting new skills such as filming and social media and using them to promote the school and gain vital employability skills for the future.

Teacher Mr Beavon enthused:- ‘Today’s visit to MediaCity has been a great opportunity for our TAG Team to experience world class facilities on our doorstep. For both pupils and staff the chance to tour sets, studios and production galleries gave us all a greater insight into the world of media. Pupils left MediaCity with a real enthusiasm for what is ahead and TAG Team members are ready to take their knowledge back to sessions at The Grange.’

After a brilliant day at MediaCityUK on the first TAG Team project here is what we thought...

"Today was amazing! It was a great opportunity for us all that we would have never had at any other time. We got to experience what it would be like to work within a facility like MediaCityUK."  Michael Fay - Year 9.

"My first visit to MediaCityUK has ben an inspiring one. As I would like to pursue a career in acting, I was especially excited when we went on a studio tour. My highlight of the tour was when we visited the Match of the Day set!" Thomas Basson - Year 9.

"Today was a great experience. We got to see what goes on behind the scenes of popular TV shows and witness the advanced technology that the studio uses." Jessica Furey - Year 8.

"Today's visit has been a great opportunity for the TAG Team to experience world class facilities on our door step. For both pupils and staff the chance to tour sets, studios and production galleries gave us all a greater insight into the world of media. Pupils left MediaCity with a real enthusiasm for what is ahead and TAG Team members are ready to take their knowledge back to sessions at The Grange." Mr Beavon
