Welcome to The Grange Academy - Primary

At The Grange we offer a curriculum tailored to the needs of all our learners. Our learners are constantly challenged to improve and develop their knowledge and skills in a supportive, caring environment. Success is celebrated within and beyond the curriculum and the introduction of our Great at the Grange is an excellent example of how our learners are encouraged to develop confidence and a sense of achievement.

With the Governments release of a New National Curriculum, which we implemented from September 2014 our learners are provided with an introduction to the essential knowledge and skills that they need to be educated members of a forward thinking British society. It introduces pupils to the best that has been thought and said; and helps create an appreciation of human creativity and achievement.

English: At The Grange we teach children skills that will enable them to become competent and confident communicators both with the spoken language and the written word.

Mathematics: The curriculum will provide the necessary skills to handle Mathematics in everyday situations through developing a positive attitude towards Mathematics; an ability to solve problems and think for themselves; understand information and ideas as well as develop an enjoyment of Mathematics.

Science: This subject is an essential part of the learning process and at The Grange it is as much about learning skills as learning facts about the world. The skill of scientific investigation is a nurtured extension of the learner’s natural curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring and discovering. We aim to develop learner’s scientific skills, knowledge, understanding and attitudes through a range of practical activities and investigations.

Art and Design: Art and Design offers learners of all academic abilities the opportunity to communicate their thoughts and feelings through a visual response.

Design Technology: In Design and Technology we develop the child’s ability to generate ideas and then to plan, make, test and evaluate them.

History and Geography: Through studying the past and their environment, learners gain an awareness, appreciation and knowledge of their personal identity in relation to time and place.

Computing: Our curriculum ensures that all learners are confident and have the necessary skills to understand and use ICT within all subject areas.

Physical Education: At The Grange we have access to a large sports hall, two well-equipped halls, playgrounds, a large playing field and outdoor play equipment where we provide learners with the opportunities to develop their physical skills through gymnastics, dance, games, athletics, outdoor activities and swimming.

Music: We enable our learners to gain an understanding and enjoyment of music from different times and cultures.

Religious Education: This is an integral part of the curriculum and is taught in accordance with the agreed syllabus. Learners should learn about religion in order to develop their own beliefs, spirituality, values, and to learn to respect those of others.
