  • Year 8 and Year 9 Paris Trip October 2018

Year 8 and Year 9 Paris Trip

October 2018

On the last Friday of half term, a coachful of excited students left school at 5am, direction Paris.

After a relatively relaxing journey we made it to our hotel in the evening. On our first evening the students enjoyed their first French meal of the weekend, salad starter, steak haché (burger) and dauphinoise potatoes and ice cream. The staff were very proud of the students who tried something new.

On Saturday we left the hotel early in the morning for a day full of sightseeing. Our first stop was Tour Montparnasse. We all went up to the top of the tower in a very fast lift, at the top we saw wonderful views of Paris. After, we headed over to Le Cathédrale de Notre Dame. Some students struggled to find Quasimodo on top of the cathedral, but all enjoyed the magnificent architecture inside. Next, we had a picnic in the Quartier Latin. Followed by a stroll along La Seine river and over the famous padlock bridge, Le Pont des Arts. We visited the famous Pyramid de Louvre and had a rest in Les Jardins de Tuileries. Next we saw all of the Paris sights from our boat cruise and our students enjoyed waving and saying bonjour to anyone who was along the riverbanks. We had fun in front the Le Tour Eiffel, taking pictures and trying to touch the top of the Eiffel Tower. Finally, we had a lovely meal next to L’Arc de Triomphe. We finished the day by travelling down Les Champs Elysées and saw Paris by night.

On Sunday we went to Disneyland. All students and staff had a fantastic day meeting the Disney characters, singing songs and of course being thrilled by roller coaster rides. We completed the perfect day by watching the spectacular Disney firework display. Throughout the trip the staff nominated students for various awards, for example, being the most independent or being the most enthusiastic about French culture. Congratulations again to all students who received an award.

The students were fantastic ambassadors for The Grange Academy. A lot of wonderful memories were made on this trip and we hope that the students will return to Paris or France again one day.
